A psychic medium is within reach from anywhere in Essex. For most people the easy route is Zoom from home. Meeting in person means coming into London by appointment, a train ride of about 25 minutes from Shenfield up to around 55 minutes from Southend, and I confirm the meeting details after you book.

This page is for anyone in Essex looking for a psychic medium they can trust, from Southend and the Thames estuary to Chelmsford, the Basildon and Harlow new towns, Brentwood and the villages along the edge of Epping Forest. My name is Michelle Virtue. I'm a professionally trained Psychic Medium, Spiritual Coach and Intuitive Teacher, and The Butterfly Academy of Psychics is my London-based practice. Essex is close enough to come in for a session and far enough that Zoom is often easier, so I've written this to help you choose.

One practical point first: I hold no sessions anywhere in Essex itself, and there is no local room or group.

One county, very different corners of Essex

Essex covers a lot of ground, and the reasons someone looks for a reading tend to change with the shape of their life. Down on the estuary, in Southend-on-Sea, Leigh and Shoeburyness, a reading is often something to share with friends, or a way to feel close again to someone who has died. In Chelmsford, the county town, with its large professional and public-sector workforce, the questions lean towards career direction and confidence at work.

The post-war new towns have their own rhythm. Basildon, with Billericay and Wickford beside it, is home to working families and tradespeople running their own firms, people who want a straight answer without fuss. Harlow, Frederick Gibberd's planned town in the Stort valley, has science and manufacturing employers and plenty of people on shifts. Brentwood and Shenfield are commuter country with a lot of business owners, and out west, Epping, Loughton and Buckhurst Hill sit right up against the ancient forest.

The larger towns each have a page of their own with more on travel and the services that fit there. Good places to start are my Chelmsford page, readings for Southend and Leigh and the page for Basildon, Billericay and Wickford.

What are the train times from Essex towns to a London reading?

Anywhere from about 25 minutes to just under an hour on the train, depending on your town, because Essex is unusually well joined up to London. Greater Anglia runs into Liverpool Street from Chelmsford, Harlow and Shenfield, c2c runs from Southend and Basildon into Fenchurch Street, the Elizabeth line ends at Shenfield, and the Central line reaches out as far as Epping. Here is roughly how that looks from the main towns.

FromUsual route into LondonTypical fastest time
Brentwood and ShenfieldElizabeth line or Greater Anglia to Liverpool Streetabout 25 to 40 minutes
Basildonc2c to Fenchurch Streetabout 35 minutes
HarlowGreater Anglia from Harlow Town to Liverpool Streetabout 35 minutes
ChelmsfordGreater Anglia to Liverpool Streetabout 35 to 40 minutes
Epping and LoughtonCentral lineabout 40 to 50 minutes to central London
Southend-on-Seac2c from Southend Central to Fenchurch Streetabout 55 minutes

The train is only part of it. Coming in for a session usually means setting aside half a day, and some people find the travel helps them arrive calm and ready. Others would far rather make a cup of tea and log on from the sofa. On Zoom the reading is the same reading, because I'm working with your energy, not with the room you happen to be sitting in. My page on how Zoom readings work from home explains the practical side, including how to switch the calendar's time zone if you're booking from abroad. If you can't travel at all for now, through health, caring or the cost of a peak fare, Zoom carries the whole service and loses nothing.

For business owners and the self-employed

A great many people in Essex work for themselves: sole traders, small-firm owners, consultants, people who started with a van and now run a team. That life brings its own pressure. Every decision lands on you, there is rarely anyone to think it through with, and the line between the business and your own wellbeing gets very thin.

This is where much of my work sits now. Through one-to-one intuitive coaching for founders I help business owners, and especially women building something of their own, to trust their judgement again, see clearly what is draining them and make decisions from a steadier place. Before this work I was a senior leader, in banking first and then in social care, so we can be practical about cash flow, staff and growth as well as intuition and energy.

Coaching runs on Zoom, which fits an Essex working day. A session can slot in between jobs, after the school run, or once you've locked up for the evening and the phone has stopped.

I am normally resistant to give 5 star ratings, but I have truly been moved by Michelle's guidance.

Mediumship and everyday psychic readings

Many people first come to me after a loss. A mediumship reading is a gentle, respectful attempt to connect with someone in Spirit, and I'm always honest that no one can guarantee who will come through or what they will share. What you can expect is a calm session, plain language and time to ask about anything you don't understand.

A general psychic reading looks at your life as it is now. Drawing on psychic insight, oracle cards and whatever comes through in your energy, I work with whatever is weighing on you, from relationships and family patterns to a move, a career change or simply feeling stuck. The aim is clarity, plus two or three sensible actions to carry home with you, whether home is Colchester, Clacton or a village near Maldon.

Readings offer guidance and reflection. They are not a substitute for medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and every client needs to be 18 or over.

Developing your own gifts

Some people in Essex have sensed things all their lives and want to understand them properly. My structured development training runs as three levels of live group learning, and any part of it can be taught privately, just you and me. Private sessions on Zoom are often the realistic route from somewhere like Southend or Saffron Walden, where weekly trips into London would be hard to keep up. We work at your pace on self-trust, discernment and a steady, sensible way of working with what you notice. Bring your questions about the content of each level, and about when a new group is due to start, to the free consultation, because dates move and I'd rather give you the current picture.

A first conversation, wherever you are in Essex

If you're not sure what you need, start with the Intuitive Clarity Consultation. It costs nothing, runs for 20 minutes on Zoom, and it's a conversation rather than a reading: together we take stock of where things stand and which reading, coaching pathway or course would genuinely help. If you'd rather go straight to a reading, a 30-minute Zoom session is £75 and a 30-minute in-person session in London is £100.

You can book online at any time, and if you'd like to talk first, I'm on 07482 343459 from 9am to 5pm, seven days a week.

Psychic Medium in Essex: FAQs

Do you hold readings or groups anywhere in Essex?

No, there is nowhere in Essex that I see people, and I don't run a local group there. Face-to-face readings happen in London, by appointment only, and I confirm where after you've booked. Readings, intuitive coaching, the free consultation and private development tuition can all happen on Zoom from your own home. If you'd like a private event for a group, that can be held at a venue of your choosing in Essex, and we can discuss the details.

Which Essex towns have the quickest trains to a London session?

Brentwood and Shenfield are the quickest, at about 25 to 40 minutes to Liverpool Street on the Elizabeth line or Greater Anglia. Harlow (about 35 minutes) and Chelmsford (35 to 40 minutes) run to Liverpool Street on Greater Anglia, while Basildon (about 35 minutes) and Southend-on-Sea (about 55 minutes) run to Fenchurch Street on c2c. Add time for the onward trip across London. You'll hear from me with the meeting details after booking.

Can an Essex company book a workshop on intuition for its team?

Yes. There are two corporate themes: using intuition in strategic decisions, and a mindfulness and energy session aimed at focus and resilience under pressure. Either can run in your own office or online, so an Essex firm can host one in its own building or bring a spread-out team together on Zoom. There are no fixed public prices, so the best first step is the contact form or the free consultation.

For someone in Essex, is a Zoom reading as good as meeting in person?

Yes. I read your energy, and the distance between Essex and London doesn't change that, so a Zoom reading carries the same depth as one in London. The difference is practical. Zoom saves the train fare and the half day, while some people simply prefer sitting face to face. If you're unsure, try one format first and switch next time.
