You can have a psychic or mediumship reading from Canvey Island on Zoom at home, which is the easiest route for most families on the island. In-person readings take place in London only: c2c trains from Benfleet reach Fenchurch Street in about 45 minutes, and the meeting place is shared privately after you book.
This page is for families on Canvey Island and across the creek in South Benfleet, Thundersley and Hadleigh who are thinking about a psychic reading, very often because someone they love has died. I'm Michelle Virtue, a professionally trained Psychic Medium, Spiritual Coach and Intuitive Teacher. Alongside readings, a private gathering hosted in your own home is something we can talk about too.
Canvey is a place where people know each other and word gets around, so I'll be clear from the outset about what I do and don't offer here. I have no base on the island, I don't run public evenings there, and any face-to-face reading takes place in London.
Mediumship for Canvey Island families
The island has its own long memory. Much of Canvey lies below the level of the highest tides, protected by its sea walls, and the 1953 flood is still spoken about in families who lost people or homes that night. Grief here is often shared across generations, between grandparents, parents and children who all knew the same person.
A mediumship reading means I open up to the people your family has lost and tell you, word for word where I can, whatever comes to me. I'll say it plainly at the start: no one can guarantee who will come through. Sometimes the person you're hoping for is there at once. Sometimes it's someone else from the family, an aunt or a grandad, with a message that makes sense later. I describe what I'm given without dressing it up, and I never ask leading questions to fill the gaps.
If you've lost someone recently, it can be kinder to give yourself a little time before a sitting. When you do book, try to arrive curious rather than set on one particular question. Spirit has a habit of bringing up what matters to them, which isn't always what we planned to ask.
Without me telling her the whole story, she knew it already.

When more than one of the family on Canvey wants a reading
Because loss is so often shared on the island, you may be wondering whether a sister, a mum or a cousin can have a reading too. The answer depends on what each person needs. Separate sittings give each person their own private time, which many people prefer for something this personal. The free Intuitive Clarity Consultation is the right place to talk that through, so we can plan something fair to everyone.
A few things worth knowing before you arrange anything for the family:
- Everyone who has a reading must be 18 or over, however mature a younger relative may be.
- Readings for different people may bring different messages, and that's normal.
- It's fine for someone to decide on the day that they'd rather not take part.
A gathering at home in Thundersley or on Canvey Island
On an island where so much happens through friends and neighbours, a psychic evening at someone's house can be a lovely way to get together. I offer private gatherings and psychic parties wherever the host decides, so a living room on Canvey, a house in Thundersley or a hired hall nearby are all things we can discuss. These are private events you arrange; I don't hold open nights locally.
Before the evening we agree how many people are coming, how long I'll stay and what kind of night you'd like. Some hosts picture a soft, chatty night of messages; others want everyone sitting in a circle and trying a little intuition for themselves. A second room for quieter conversations is always helpful. All guests must be 18 or over, and as each event is planned individually there is no set public price.
Families also bring living concerns, not only loss. A daughter worried about an elderly parent, a couple deciding whether to leave the island for somewhere bigger, a son unsure about a job offer away from home. A reading can make room for those too, and I'm just as happy to work with the present as with Spirit.
How do I get from Canvey Island to a reading in London?
Head over the bridge to Benfleet station and take the c2c to Fenchurch Street, which takes about 45 minutes, then allow a little longer for the last stretch across town. I confirm the meeting place privately after you book, as there's no public address. For more on the format and what happens during the hour, see how my London sessions work.
The trip is a straightforward one, and for a first reading some people like the feeling of having set aside the time properly. From Hadleigh, the castle ruins look down over the marshes towards the estuary, and some people find it helps to walk up there afterwards, look out over the water and let the reading settle before going home.
Allow time for the road over to Benfleet, which can be slow at rush hour, and for parking near the station. A late-morning slot misses the busiest commuter trains each way. If the day goes wrong, with a delayed train or a relative who suddenly needs you, move the booking via your confirmation email instead of hurrying; a sitting from home on Zoom is always there instead.
Zoom readings from behind the Canvey sea wall
For a lot of people, especially those caring for older relatives or juggling work and children, a Zoom reading from your own home is simply easier. You book a time online, a link arrives by email, and you join from a quiet room. Nothing is lost on screen. I still read your energy, still turn the oracle cards and still explain every impression as it comes, and you have the comfort of your own chair and your own cup of tea.
Some people also come to me for healing. A client once described the work as soul restoration healing, and her words about it are below. Healing is complementary. It doesn't replace medical care, and your GP should always be the first person you see about your health.
Michelle provided a safe, reassuring session that enabled me to address issues that are preventing me from reaching my full potential.

Starting out, without any pressure
If you're unsure what to book, begin with the free Intuitive Clarity Consultation. It's a twenty-minute Zoom conversation about what has brought you to this point. I won't read for you during it, and you're under no obligation once we've spoken. For travel and services elsewhere in the county, see my page covering Essex.
One gentle reminder. Readings and mediumship can bring comfort and perspective, but they are not a substitute for medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, or for bereavement support if you need it.
