A mediumship reading with me is a private session, in person in London or on Zoom, in which I aim to connect with loved ones who have passed into Spirit and pass on what I receive with care. I recommend 60 minutes: £135 on Zoom or £160 in person in London. No one can guarantee who will come through.
I’m Michelle Virtue, a professionally trained Psychic Medium in London. A mediumship reading is a space to sit quietly with the possibility of connecting with loved ones who have passed into Spirit. I hold that space with great care, because I know how much it can mean to the person sitting with me.
My own path into this work was shaped by loss. For years I’d had vivid, prophetic dreams and spiritual visitations, and after my father passed, a visitation dream confirmed that this was my calling. I bring that understanding into every sitting. I know what it is to miss someone, and I’ll never treat your grief lightly.
Mediumship and psychic readings: the difference
The two overlap, but their focus is different. A psychic reading works with your own energy: your situation, your choices and the patterns around you. Mediumship aims to make a connection with people who have passed, so that they can communicate through the medium, often by sharing memories, personality traits or messages that feel recognisable to you.
A simple way to put it is that every medium uses psychic ability, but not every psychic works as a medium. I work in both ways, as a psychic and as a spiritual medium, and I explain the distinction in more depth in my article on how a psychic and a medium differ. If your main focus is your own life direction rather than connecting with someone in Spirit, a general psychic reading may be the better fit.
In practice, the two often weave together. A mediumship reading can include guidance about your own life, and a loved one’s message frequently relates to what you’re going through now.
What can happen when loved ones in Spirit come through
Every sitting is different, and I can’t script it. When communication comes through, I describe what I’m receiving as clearly as I can. That might be a sense of someone’s character, how they lived, how they passed, a shared memory, or something that mattered to the two of you. I check in as I go, so you can tell me whether something makes sense.
Sometimes the evidence is small and very personal. Sometimes it’s a feeling more than a fact. Messages tend to carry love, reassurance or encouragement, and they’re rarely dramatic. Some people leave feeling lighter. Others feel emotional for a while, and both responses are completely natural.
She puts you totally at ease and answers your questions without you having to ask them.

People come to mediumship for many reasons. Some want reassurance that a loved one is at peace. Some carry words they never had the chance to say, or questions that were left unanswered. Others are simply curious and open.
All of these are good reasons to sit, and none of them require you to believe anything in particular before you arrive. Bringing an honest, open mind is enough.
If Spirit is quiet on a given day, I won’t fill the silence with guesses. I’ll tell you honestly, and we can use the time for the guidance you need about your own life. I’d always rather give you less information that’s true than more that isn’t.
How a mediumship sitting unfolds
A sitting with me begins quietly. I’ll welcome you, explain how I work and answer any questions you have about mediumship before we start. For many people this is their first time, and knowing what to expect takes away a lot of the nerves.
I then take a moment to open up and attune. Mediums describe Spirit communication in different ways, and for me it can arrive as images, feelings, words, physical sensations or a strong sense of someone’s presence and personality. I pass on what I receive as faithfully as I can, without trying to interpret it into something neater than it is.
You’ll mostly be asked simple questions, such as whether you can understand a detail or place a memory. A yes, a no or "I’m not sure" are all helpful answers. It’s fine if something doesn’t make sense straight away; I’d much rather you told me honestly than agreed to be kind.
Towards the end, I close the connection gently and we talk about what came through. This part matters. It gives you a chance to ask questions, take a breath and leave feeling grounded rather than raw.
No one can guarantee who comes through
This is the most important thing I can tell you before you book. No medium can guarantee who will come through, when, or what they’ll say. I can’t call a particular person forward on request, and I’d be wary of anyone who says they can.
You may hope to hear from your mum and find that a grandparent comes through instead, or someone you hadn’t thought of at all. That can be surprising, and sometimes disappointing at first. I’d gently encourage you to come with an open heart rather than a fixed expectation. It tends to make the sitting easier for you, whatever happens.
It also helps to know that a connection isn’t a test of how much someone loved you. Whether or not a particular person comes through says nothing about the bond you shared.
How I work as a medium: ethically and with grief in mind
Grief makes people tender, and a mediumship reading asks a lot of trust. These are the principles I work by in every sitting:
- Your pace comes first. We start with time to settle. You don’t have to tell me who you’re hoping to hear from, and it’s often better if you share very little, so the evidence can speak for itself.
- Honesty over drama. I describe what I receive without embellishing it. If I’m unsure of something, I’ll say so plainly.
- Care with difficult information. If something painful comes up, I share it gently and only when it serves you.
- Room to pause. You can stop, take a breath or end the reading at any point, and you’ll never be hurried.
- Support beyond the reading. A sitting can offer comfort, but it isn’t grief counselling or therapy. Readings offer guidance and reflection; they are not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. If you’re struggling, please reach out to your GP or a bereavement service as well.
I’d also suggest giving yourself a little time after a very recent loss. There’s no fixed rule, but in the rawest early weeks many people find a reading harder to take in. If you’re unsure whether now is right, we can talk it through first.
Without me telling her the whole story, she knew it already.

Booking a psychic medium in London: in person or on Zoom
To book a mediumship reading, choose a 1:1 reading in my calendar and let me know at the start of the session that you’re hoping to connect with someone in Spirit. The prices are the same as for any 1:1 reading with me:
- On Zoom: 30 minutes for £75, or 60 minutes for £135
- In person in London: 30 minutes for £100, or 60 minutes for £160
For mediumship, I recommend the 60-minute reading. Connection can take a little while to build, and the longer session gives us room to receive messages without hurrying, to pause when you need to, and to talk about what came through. A 30-minute sitting can still work if you’d like a shorter first experience.
In-person sittings take place in London, which is easy to reach if you’re coming from Camden, Highgate, Islington or elsewhere in readings and development for North London clients, or from anywhere across the city. If you’re looking for a medium near you but can’t easily travel, Zoom lets you sit in your own home, and some people find that familiar setting makes the experience gentler. You’ll find every format and time on my 30 and 60-minute reading prices.
Mediumship readings for clients across London and beyond
For many people a mediumship reading comes at a tender time, after a loss within a close family or community. The page on mediumship readings for South London clients speaks to that experience and how I hold it with care. In-person readings take place in London by appointment, and the details are confirmed when you book.
If travelling feels like too much while you are grieving, a reading at home can be gentler. Mediumship readings on Zoom are private and one to one, and many people find it easier to be emotional in their own space, with a cup of tea and a tissue close by.
Preparing emotionally for a mediumship reading
There’s nothing you have to do to prepare, but a few small things can help you feel steadier on the day.
- Hold your hopes lightly. It’s natural to think about who you’d love to hear from. Try to let that sit in the background rather than waiting for one name.
- Leave space afterwards. Avoid booking straight before work or a busy event. Give yourself time to sit quietly, take a walk or call someone you trust.
- Keep tissues and water nearby. Tears are welcome and normal, and you never need to apologise for them.
- Have a notebook ready. Names, places and small details can be easy to forget. Writing them down during or straight after the sitting helps you return to them later.
- Bring a keepsake if you’d like. Some people feel closer to a loved one with a photo or a piece of jewellery nearby. It isn’t necessary, but it can be comforting.
In the days after a sitting, details sometimes make more sense than they did at the time. A family member might recognise a memory you couldn’t place, or something small might connect. Be patient with yourself while it settles, and know that you can get in touch if anything from the reading stays with you.
