People in Bromley, Beckenham and Orpington can sit with a psychic medium in two ways. Face-to-face sittings happen in London by appointment, with the exact spot sent privately after booking, and from Bromley South the train ride is short. Or you can sit on Zoom at home, which many grieving people find gentler.
Someone loses their mum in Orpington or their husband in Beckenham, and months later they are still clearing the loft, still reaching for the phone at the hour the call used to come. That is often when a person first thinks about sitting with a medium. I'm Michelle Virtue, a professionally trained Psychic Medium, Spiritual Coach and Intuitive Teacher, and I wrote this page for anyone in Bromley, Beckenham, Chislehurst, Penge or Orpington who is carrying a loss and wondering whether a sitting might help.
I'll be straight with you from the start: I have no public address and no room in Bromley or anywhere nearby. On Zoom, you can stay in your own front room with a cup of tea and a photograph close by.
What a mediumship sitting from Bromley can and cannot offer
When I sit for mediumship, I open to the sense of someone in Spirit: a personality, a turn of phrase, a memory only the family would recognise. Sometimes the person you were hoping for comes through clearly. Sometimes it is a grandparent you had barely thought about, or a neighbour from the road you grew up on. No one can guarantee who will come through, and I won't dress that up.
Care, though, I can promise. I go at your pace, I describe what I'm receiving in ordinary language, and I leave room for you to say "I don't recognise that" without feeling you've done something wrong. My page on how my mediumship sittings work sets out the shape of a session if you'd like to read more first.
A sitting is a place for comfort and connection, and it sits alongside the rest of your support. It is not a substitute for bereavement counselling or for medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. If grief has become too heavy to manage day to day, please talk to your GP as well. I only work with adults aged 18 or over.
Grief in the quieter streets between Chislehurst and Penge
This corner of London still feels close to Kent, and for most of its past it was part of Kent. There are commons and woods, cricket greens, and long roads of family homes where people have lived for decades. That steadiness is precious, but it can also mean a loss leaves a very particular silence. The family house in Petts Wood is suddenly too big. The Sunday walk across Chislehurst Common was always done with someone.
Grieving people often haven't mentioned the dreams to anyone, or the familiar perfume in the hallway, or the robin that keeps landing on the fence. They worry they'll sound silly. You won't, not with me. Experiences like these are common after a bereavement, and simply saying them out loud to someone who takes them seriously can ease a great deal.
I think of Chislehurst Caves sometimes, the old chalk tunnels where local families sheltered during the Second World War. Those passages held people through frightening nights. A good sitting does something smaller but similar: it gives you a safe, quiet place to be with what you have lost.
I was late getting to my appointment yet she gave me time to get to her and did not rush through the reading.

How far is a London sitting from Bromley South?
Not far at all: Southeastern trains from Bromley South reach Victoria in under 20 minutes, and Beckenham Junction and Orpington have their own direct services into town. Because I confirm where we will meet at the time of booking, you can plan the journey with time to spare, and if a train lets you down I would much rather you arrive calm than arrive on the dot.
Zoom suits a lot of grieving people better. There is no platform to stand on when you already feel raw, and no need to hold yourself together on the ride home. You can cry, pause, fetch a photo from the sideboard and finish the session in your own space. In my experience Spirit comes through just as clearly over a screen, because the link was never about being in the same room as me.
On cost, a reading in person in London is £100 for 30 minutes or £160 for an hour, and on Zoom it is £75 or £135. For mediumship the full hour is usually kinder, because it leaves time for whoever steps forward and for your own questions afterwards. My in-person readings in London page explains how those sessions run.
If you travel in, choose a day when nothing is waiting for you afterwards. Grief can surface on the way home rather than in the room, so avoid booking a sitting just before work or the school run. If the journey feels like too much, or you are caring for someone and can't leave the house, Zoom is the answer, and rescheduling takes a moment through the email you receive if the day turns out to be a hard one.
Gentle healing after a loss
Grief lives in the body as much as in the mind. People describe a tight chest, broken sleep and a tiredness that a quiet weekend never touches. As a certified Reiki Master Practitioner, I sometimes suggest a healing session before a sitting, or in the weeks after one, so there is room to settle whatever has come up.
Reiki is complementary. It can bring calm and a feeling of being looked after, and it is never a replacement for medical treatment or anything your doctor has advised. You can find out more on my Reiki and energy healing page.
Families often ask whether two sisters can share a sitting, or whether a parent and grown-up son can come together. That is worth talking through at the free consultation, because a shared sitting needs a little thought about what each person is hoping to hear.
When grief opens up your own sensitivity
Some people who come to me for comfort leave with a different question: why do I keep sensing things, and what am I meant to do with it. If you have always felt a presence in certain rooms, or known who was ringing before the phone lit up, you may be more sensitive than you realise. I offer private one-to-one development tuition for exactly this, at a pace that respects where you are emotionally.
Opening up after a bereavement needs care. I won't hurry anyone into development while they are still raw, and I am firm about grounding and protection from the very first session. I also teach structured group courses, and we can look at the syllabus and the next intake together when we talk.
Michelle is a wonderful and powerful teacher. She creates an encouraging and beautiful environment to follow your intuition and lean into this path.

If you are unsure where to begin, book the free Intuitive Clarity Consultation. We spend 20 minutes together on Zoom, I don't read for you, and we simply work out whether a sitting, some healing or development tuition would help most at this stage of your grief. If you are curious how this borough fits with its neighbours, my South London overview covers the wider area.
