Living in Brighton or Hove is no barrier to a psychic reading or a sitting with Spirit. Over Zoom you join from your own flat. For a face-to-face sitting you come up to London, roughly an hour to Victoria on a Southern or Gatwick Express train, and I share where we'll meet after booking.

On a clear morning the seafront between the Palace Pier and the beach huts along Hove is full of people who would happily tell you about their tarot deck, their meditation teacher or the grandmother who still visits them in dreams. Brighton is a city where saying you've booked a psychic reading barely raises an eyebrow. That openness is lovely. It also means people here tend to have tried a few things already, and they arrive with sharper questions.

I'm Michelle Virtue, a professionally trained Psychic Medium, Spiritual Coach and Intuitive Teacher working from London. I don't have a room or a group in Brighton, and I won't pretend otherwise. Everyone is welcome, whoever you love and however you identify.

A psychic medium for Brighton's open-minded spiritual community

In a city like Brighton and Hove, the interest in mediumship is serious, and many people want to learn it themselves as well as sit with a medium. Both requests deserve a careful answer, because a city with this much spiritual interest also has a wide range of standards. Before you book anyone, including me, it is worth asking how they work, what they will and won't claim, and whether they leave you room for questions.

Here is how I work. I start by tuning in and telling you, in ordinary language, what I'm sensing. If someone in Spirit draws close, I describe what I'm given and check it with you rather than building a story on top of it. I never promise a particular person, because no one can guarantee who will come through. Some sittings bring a loved one in clearly; others are more about guidance for where you are now. Both have value.

Lives in a city this open often hold layered stories. Chosen family alongside birth family. A partner's relatives who never quite accepted them. A friend lost young. Mediumship and readings can hold all of that without judgement, and I make no assumptions about who matters most in your life. You tell me, or Spirit does, and we go from there. Many sittings also turn toward the living: a relationship pattern you keep repeating, a creative project that has stalled, the sense that it's time to leave a job or a flat. I treat those questions with the same care.

Without me telling her the whole story, she knew it already.

What a mediumship sitting looks like from Hove, Kemptown or Preston Park

From Brighton, the simplest option is Zoom, sat somewhere quiet at home. A bay window in Hove, a spare room off a Kemptown terrace, the kitchen table in a flat near Preston Park: any of these is fine, as long as you won't be interrupted. Use headphones if your walls are thin, and keep some water nearby.

A sitting usually follows this shape:

  1. A few minutes to settle, so that you aren't arriving straight from the school run or a shift.
  2. My first impressions, then a spread of oracle cards and a read of the energy around you.
  3. Any communication from Spirit, described as I receive it, with space for you to confirm or say it doesn't fit.
  4. Your questions, and some practical thoughts on what to do next.

You can read about this in more depth on my medium readings page. Please treat a sitting as comfort and guidance rather than treatment. It is not a substitute for medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and if grief is weighing very heavily, a bereavement counsellor or your GP deserves a place alongside our work.

Training your mediumship: three routes

Plenty of people in Brighton quietly sense things and have spent years unsure whether to trust what they pick up. If that sounds like you, there are three ways to learn with me, and all of them can be followed online from the city.

Structured development courses

My group development courses run across three structured levels, live, with a small group. They build intuition and discernment first, then your connection to Spirit, before moving into mediumship. You can also take them privately. Dates for the next intake are something I'll go through with you personally.

Mediumship training

For people who already know mediumship is their calling, my dedicated mediumship training focuses on that one skill: holding a link safely, delivering evidence kindly, and keeping your ego out of the way. I teach warmly, and I'm also firm about discipline. Good mediumship depends on both.

Private tuition

Some people want a slower pace, or have had an unsettling experience they need to work through first. One-to-one tuition lets us start exactly where you are. We might spend the first sessions on grounding and spiritual protection, so that being open in a city with this much going on feels safe, before any work with Spirit begins. You set the pace, and we only move on when you're ready.

Can you sit with a medium in person from Brighton?

Yes, in London. If you'd rather we met face to face, Southern and Gatwick Express trains reach Victoria, and Thameslink runs through London Bridge, Farringdon and St Pancras. Face-to-face sittings are London-only and by appointment; the address for ours lands in your inbox after you've booked. If you're coming from elsewhere in the county, my Sussex overview compares journey times from each town.

I was late getting to my appointment yet she gave me time to get to her and did not rush through the reading.

As a rough guide, a 30-minute reading is £75 on Zoom or £100 face to face, and 60 minutes is £135 or £160. A sensible pattern from the coast is Zoom for regular sessions and the train for one sitting you want to mark. If a group of friends fancies an intuitive evening for a birthday, a hen do or a send-off, a private gathering at a Brighton or Hove venue you pick is worth raising with me.

One practical thought for mediumship in particular. A sitting can leave you tender, and an hour on a busy train back to the coast is not always the kindest way to end it. If you do travel, book a slot that lets you head home outside the evening rush, and give yourself a slow walk along the seafront afterwards. If grief is very fresh, or travel simply isn't possible this month, Zoom from your own sofa in Kemptown or Hove is the gentler choice.

A first conversation before anything else

If you are not sure whether you want a reading, a course or training, start with the free Intuitive Clarity Consultation. That call takes 20 minutes over Zoom, and I won't be reading for you during it: we talk about what's drawing you to this work and I suggest the path that fits. Readings and training are for adults aged 18 or over, and I'm available 9am to 5pm, seven days a week. Bring your scepticism as well as your curiosity. Brighton people usually do, and I like that.

Psychic Readings in Brighton & Hove: FAQs

Can I have a mediumship reading in Brighton itself?

No, I don't hold sittings in Brighton. From Brighton and Hove you can see me on Zoom, which is usually the easiest option, or in person in London by appointment. A Zoom sitting follows the same steps as one in a room: settling in, my impressions, any communication from Spirit, and time for your questions. Bear in mind that no medium can promise who will come through.

How long does it take to get from Brighton to an in-person session?

Allow about an hour on the train from Brighton to Victoria on Southern or Gatwick Express. Thameslink trains go through London Bridge, Farringdon and St Pancras instead, which can suit some journeys better. Once you've booked, I email where in London we'll meet, which lets you work out the final leg from the terminus. Check the timetable on the day, and give yourself a little extra time if you're nervous about connections.

Can I train as a medium online from Brighton and Hove?

Yes. My mediumship training and my three-level development courses are taught live, so students in Brighton and Hove can join from home and still practise with other people in real time. If you'd like a gentler pace, we can work privately, just the two of us. We can talk through which route fits your experience, and when the next intake begins, during the free consultation.

Could you run an intuitive evening for a group in Brighton?

Possibly, yes. My private events are designed to take place wherever the host decides, which means a gathering in Brighton or Hove is open for discussion. Tell me roughly how many people, what the occasion is and what you'd like guests to experience, and I'll say honestly whether it's a good fit. Use the contact form or the free consultation to start that conversation.
